GARDENING TIPS FOR NOVEMBER

  • Look after your garden this month and you will be able to go on holiday and come back to a garden still in good condition.
  • Keep an eye out for the black and yellow amaryllis lily borer caterpillar in the clivias, arums, nerines and agapanthus.
  • Mow the lawn regularly. A good tip is to change the direction of cutting. This prevents uneven growth and ridges forming.
  • Continue to inspect the fruit trees for fruit flies and the black and yellow fruit beetle. Spray if necessary.
  • Mulch your garden beds. This will ensure less water loss with your watering being cut down by more than half.
  • Fertilise your roses to have another flush of flowers over December and January.
  • Feed your hydrangeas with the appropriate food to enhance the pink or blue colours and to produce a lot of flowers.
