Description of Garden:
IN MEMORY OF ZODWA, who is not alive to tell her story. CURB HUNGER is a non-profit organisation in partnership with GROW ENVIRONMENTAL REHABILITATION AND LANDSCAPING PROJECTS CC. We have a dream to create pavement gardens to enable disadvantaged South Africans to pick vegetables and beneficial herbs free of charge to feed their families.
The left side of the garden represents winter, but changes as we leap into spring and eventually summer with tree tomatoes, and an assortment of summer fruits and vegetables. A water-wise irrigation system is fed by a catchment area and water tank.
We hope that this show garden will inspire local businesses to join hands and work together with CURB HUNGER and GROW ER&L to plant pavement gardens in future. BECAUSE…. NOBODY HAS TO DIE OF HUNGER.
